The Cheeksters

Ground Control to Cheeksters

from Peter Cooper's "Hot Spots"

If space rocker David Bowie lived in Tennessee,  he’d probably sound exactly like The Cheeksters.  Front man and songwriter Mark Casson shares significant vocal similarities with Bowie, a fact which doesn’t hinder the band’s enjoyable Skating on the Cusp.  String players Peter Hyrka, Kristin Wilkinson and Gary Tussing aid the album’s cause, and the whole, multi-layered affair invites and rewards repeated listening.

The Cheeksters play Thursday night  at 12th and Porter, 114 12th Ave N., at 9:30 pm, Kim’s Fable opens the show.
