Speaking of downtown – tomorrow at HIGH NOON – you can catch a free outdoor spectacle with the mini-Suns-of-Phere. The WDVX Blue Plate Special features Todd Steed and the Suns of Phere downtown at the WDVX studios at 301 Gay Street. Did I mention it’s free? Spend your lunch break with the Suns.
Come ye, come one, come all. This Wednesday. The Suns of Phere (mini edition) will be at Barleys- with RB Morris and Jescoe. Should be a good gig for a great cause. Just a few bucks will get you in everywhere in the old city.
Randall Brown has the whole Knoxville at Night lineup which covers the entire Old City with tons of good music – including Nug Jug, Westside Daredevils, Jag Star, Greg Horne, Phil Pollard and many others.
It’s a benefit for Thompson Cancer Survival Center and Laith Keilany.
There was a nice writeup by John Sewell in Metropulse today which included a little bit about Disgraceland. It also gives you an inside look into the multi-dollar enterprise that is Disgraceland Records. Check it out.
In other news, we’ve got some shows coming up that you need to put on your calendar. That is, if you have a calendar.
Next Friday night, Sept. 1, Daniel Miller is coming to town to play a show at Preservation Pub with the Rewinds and Llama Train. Daniel doesn’t get down here from Boston that often, so go out and see him.
The following Friday, Sept. 8, Angel and the Love Mongers will be playing at Preservation Pub for the band’s first show in months. If you haven’t caught Angel’s new lineup – Johnny Del Fuego, Bobby Krabbs, Jimmy Dos Fortran and whatever the drummer’s name is, you should definitely attend.
FYI, I’m still working on the site, so expect some MP3s and other stuff in the near future. Scout’s honor.
Welcome to the new Disgraceland. It’s a bit of a mess right now, but the foundation is there, so expect improvements and I try to figure out what the hell I’m doing with this thing.
I’m still in the process of moving artist files, MP3s, fixing links, etc, so please bear with me. I have moved the merchandise, however, and you can still order CDs and shirts at low, low, going-out-of-business prices.
Drop me an e-mail (paul-at-disgraceland.com) if you see anything particularly out-of-whack with the new site. It will be a work in progress for some time to come.
