Greg's Journal Entry
April 22, 2004
Somewhere in the middle of Pennsylvania

Okay then. Well, crap. It's been quite a while since the last journal entry. Probably Chicago was the last date we wrote about. I've pretty maintained a hangover since then. I'm not proud of it, but there you go. So, I'm gonna try and remember what the hell has happened in the last ten days. You know what, I'll just recount the tour up to Buffalo and leave New York and Boston for another journal entry. Because I'm lazy, and because....just because. So here goes:

JP's gonna kill me for putting this one on here!!

St. Louis: We pulled up to Frederick's Lounge and met Fred Friction. Cool guy, and he luvs his rawk. Can't remember our set but I do remember playing some Stones and Chuck Berry to close out the show and Fred was at the front of the stage spitting beer at us in pure celebration of raucous behavior. Beatle Bob was also there shaking his money maker. The crowd was small but sounded huge, and we thank them all for their hospitality. I wish we would've gotten some pictures here...just forgot.

Excuse me Sir, I'm trying to find some rock and roll?!?

Cleveland: So, we got to Cleveland very early as we had the day off the night before. We spent the night before somewhere in Columbus and went to a random bar and relaxed. Don't ask why we would want to spend our night off in a bar where we'd spend every night of the tour, but it was a blast. So we wake up and head to Cleveland. Took some pictures then proceeded to the club. Since we were incredibly early, I started having some beers. Then some more. Then some whisky. So, I can't remember the set there either. Once again, we played well. Thanks to Kim for letting us stay with her.

Akron: Ah! Akron. Thank you Danny (and everyone at the fantastic Lime Spider) for making us feel so welcome. And thanks to all who attended the show, as well as the Billionaire Boys Club and the Fierce Invalids. Hope all of you come again! We will definitely come back soon!! The sound on stage was immaculate. It felt like a rehearsal and the songs just flowed so well because we could hear so well. I really can't wait to go back.

If you ever go to the Lime Spider, make sure and tell 'em Stateside sent ya!

Buffalo: We arrived a little early and the promoters, Marty and Susan weren't home yet so went across the street to the Green Burrito Pub to shoot some pool and see what people were like in Buffalo. This guy pulled up and asked if we knew where the beer blast was and if we'd seen some girls riding around. We just shook our heads and he drove off muttering some profanities. He then parked and came up to us and started a conversation. After finding our we were a band, he (Patrick) bought us a round of beers to welcome us to Buffalo and regaled of his experiences back in the day. Apparently, he hung out in LA in '68 with the likes of Buddy Miles and other famous people I can't recall right now. Good person that Patrick. Then Marty and Susan got home and prepared us a delicious meal. Later that night, (and I mean much later, and I'm talking like 2 AM) we went on and played a fairly short set. Although we were a bit tired by this point, we had fun, but it was our first experience of playing at a bar that didn't allow smoking. Not really a big deal, but then again, it was. Pathetic, I know. But I'll get into that later.

Okay, we didn't take any pictures in Buffalo either. So here's another one form Akron.

New York: Alright. This is where the afterburners kicked in. Travelling to a new town everyday is pretty fast paced and you think you're ready for the Big Apple, and then you get there by way of the Holland Tunnel and you get this whiplash. BAM! Hit the ground runnin'. We got there and found a great hotel and parked our car and headed to the street for some fun on our day off. We ate these huge fantastic burgers at McHale's Cafe. Awesome food. Then we met up with Nadeau, Priscilla and Monique. Priscilla had Stateside's first album and flew in all the way from Holland to see the show (while this isn't completely true, it sounds good, doesn't it?).

Til next time, your's truly,
Papa Bear
